ROSHIELD 4 x Rat Traps - Professional Quality & Heavy Duty Pest Control Traps for Instant Kill - Large Reusable & Easy Set Rodent Solution

£15.96
  • PROFESSIONAL QUALITY - Roshield rat traps are used within the pest control industry as a reliable and fast method of rat control and as an alternative to rodenticides and cages; our traps feature a high strength spring, sensitive trigger mechanism and welded kill bar, which will result in a quicker and more humane control solution.
  • INSTANT PERFORMANCE - Our rat traps kill instantly. The heavy-duty and robust spring combined with the welded kill bar will humanly and quickly dispatch rats that feed within the kill area of the trap; the force of the mechanism guarantees maximum effectiveness, which results in a quick and humane control method.
  • DESIGNED FOR RATS - Are traps are not universal; whilst they can work with mice they are made specifically for rat control and are larger than the smaller mouse alternatives. The larger trigger plate will react specifically to rats which for a better catch rate without false triggering.
  • EASY TO USE - We include instructions for the use of the rat traps and we also have support videos for both setting and placement of the traps. Traps can easily be set by a responsible user and require no previous experience. In addition, our traps can be installed within Roshield rodent bait stations.
  • RAT TRAP KIT SIZE - This listing is for 4 x Roshield rat traps and would be suitable for a low to medium infestation area. Comprehensive instructions are included within the kit, and additional trapping support is available on request. Rat traps are reusable.

The ROSHIELD Rat Traps are impressively large and sturdy devices, designed to handle even the most persistent rats. Measuring approximately 6.7 x 3.3 x 3 inches, these traps are built for heavy-duty pest control, and their professional quality is evident from the moment you set them up. What stands out is their ease of use. The traps are simple to set and reset, and the spring mechanism is powerful, delivering a satisfying snap when triggered. Baiting them with peanut butter works like a charm, making them highly effective at attracting and dealing with rodents quickly and efficiently. The traps are reusable, which adds to their value, and the design allows for safe disposal of captured pests without the need for direct contact. The heavy-duty construction ensures durability, so they can be relied upon for ongoing pest control. If you’re dealing with a rat problem, these traps are a reliable and efficient solution. Their solid build, effective design, and ease of use make them an excellent choice for anyone needing to tackle rodents. Just be prepared—they’re not subtle, but they get the job done.

These traps are pretty decent and will do the job with medium sized rats. The spring has plenty of power to deal with them quickly. One of these has killed 5 rats in the last week alone. Not really designed for huge rats, but I have caught one in this by building a tunnel to guide it in head first. The trap was screwed down to the tunnel to stop it jumping. Otherwise, if you know you have really big rats, use a mk4 Fenn trap with a tunnel. It’s even more powerful and more humane. To stop the traps jumping, I have screwed them to a half inch piece of timber, just to add weight. See photo. It definitely reduces the number of escapes caused by the trap jumping clear of the rat! The trap will not go off with smaller rats unless you pre-load the trigger, that is to move the pressure plate a little after setting the trap to create a hair trigger. Don’t do that with your fingers! Without doing this, the rat has a few extra milliseconds to react as they feel the plate move before it releases the trap. That has sometimes been the difference between a kill and a miss, or worse, the rat eats all the bait and the trap doesn’t even fire! I have found that peanut butter attracts them, and also Thai jasmine rice seems to be popular. If the rats are already feeding, remove the food source and use the same food as bait, they are less suspicious of it. All in all, these are not bad at all, especially for the price. A simple mod with timber makes them even better!

I bought a pack of four of these traps, hoping to control the rats that are active in my outbuildings. The traps are well made and have a strong spring and kill bar. However, as other reviews have pointed out, they are too light as standard and a rodent activating the trap is more likely to send it spinning from the force of the spring. To stop the traps flipping over when activated, I've screwed them to a piece of wood as suggested by one review. However, even with this modification I have found the traps empty of bait and not triggered. I was wracking my brains as to how this could happen, because the platforms are sensitive enough to activate the trap with the slightest of pressure. Then, while actually observing a rat interact with the trap, I realised why. If a rat steps on the front of the trap where the trigger is, it will activate. However, rats are very intelligent and have quickly figured out to approach the bait from the back of the trap, where they can safely eat the bait without setting it off. And in the even they do trigger the trap, their heads are clear of the kill bar and they get away safely. The only option seems to be to use the black plastic trap boxes that are available as an accessory, which would prevent the rodents from approaching the back of the trap. Either that, or change to a different designed trap that doesn't have this flaw.

The media could not be loaded. Easy to set. Bait cup is not part of trigger mechanism, meaning rodent can eat the bait over the trigger. I smeared peanut butter over the trigger to find it licked clean. After baiting the traps 6 times only once did it trigger, not catching anything. All times they were licked clean. See video for how hard it is to set the trap off. I was unsure of whether I had rats or mice, these traps don’t work with smaller mice, I had much more success with the cheap wooden mouse traps. Would buy a traditional set up trap for rats with the bait actually on the trigger mechanism next time.
