The cat is too lazy and entitled, so I bought 2 packs of these balls and have now thrown about 20 all over the attic having heard scrabbling/scampering and seen signs up there (disturbed fiberglass insulation in the eaves). I am cautiously optimistic, as no further sounds/signs noticed since. One great advantage with this method, is if your attic is full of "stuff" - old furniture, boxes, DIY supplies, etc - you don't have to clear everything out just to find out how the critters got in. (I did seal 2 holes in the outer siding as the first measure, but it didn't stop them - they were entering by some other route). I wouldn't advise putting too many of these where you have clothes or anything else you don't want smelling strongly of peppermint, though it is not an unpleasant smell. Each ball is packaged individually in a plastic pack til needed and the little pouches are handy aswell. I expect to have to replenish them after a while, but it's during the cold weather that rodents are more likely to be a problem, so hopefully just once or twice a year. Very happy not to have to resort to traps - these are intelligent creatures after all - but they do really seem to hate and avoid this smell.

I have only just received this kit and as far as I am aware we don't have any mice or rats in the property, however we do get them in the garden, we have a pond with decking and our neighbour keeps chickens which probably increases our chance of getting vermin. I have got this kit as a deterrent. The kit arrives in a box and each of the 8 balls are individually wrapped, each has a mesh type bag to place them in and you also get a pair of gloves. When opening the balls from their packet you do get a very strong smell of mint, like mouthwash. The box does say to keep away from children and food and to wear the gloves when handling. The ingredients as listed on the box advise that the active ingredient is peppermint oil 40% and the inert ingredients are Wintergreen oil at 29% the only other ingredient is paper at 31%. Usage recommendations state on the box 1 - 2 units per 110 square feet for indoor use, outdoor use it is 1 unit per 3.3 feet. Hopefully this kit will keep the vermin out of our garage area
