So far I've destroyed 3 rats with these traps ( suggest half a fig roll biscuit smeared with peanut butter as ideal bait) . Unlike the traditional wood and wire based traps which are very clunky to set, these plastic traps can be set either by hand or clicking your foot over the mechanism to set them. Smooth and simple. WARNING : The force these traps snap shut could easily break your fingers so BE CAREFUL , the bait plate activitates at a hair's breadth of pressure. If unsure use your booted foot to press down and set the mechanism AFTER you've baited it...NEVER before. And finally...rats are very clever. The first time I used them I eliminated 3 separate rats. Quite humane - rats die instantly. However this morning I noticed 3 of the traps had successfully gone off but caught no rats. I think the rodents have already sensed danger and figured out how to extract the bait gently from behind before the trap goes off. So killing your first 4 rats with these traps should be easy, after that however , rats catch wise and don't repeat the same mistake. Time will tell...

Watch your fingers, this trap is quite strong. This trap caught a rat 12h after it was set, i have set two traps in the space where i knew rat was visiting daily. This is pretty good, as this was the second type of trap i tried. The fist one was in place for couple of days and did not catch a rat. I used it inside a residential property where the rat has gained access to underfloor void.

4 rats rats were dispatched with these traps before I changed for something a bit more humane. occasionally with these it's a slow distressing death. I've gone for the metal bar type now that has a shorter snap and an instantaneous ending. and I also use a live catch cages too Rats are smart, you can't have enough different trap types to outwit them. The thing about these particular traps is they're set up for humans Quick set, easy clean and won't take your fingers off by accident and it does work Just don't be there to watch whilst its happening. I'd suggest fitting the traps to a board (there are holes in the base for this) This is marginally kinder because the trap jaws wont let go once shut and the weight of the board prevents the rat leaping around trying to shake the trap off its face. Which it wont but it will die trying. There's no fluffy way to deal with wild rats unfortunately

I bought one of this type of trap from Woodies, for about £20 for one. It’s the best trap I’ve ever used, caught 3 mice in one day, always kills instantly so I wanted more and saw this set for the same price as the original one I got and decided it made more sense to get multiples. However these traps are nothing like that Woodies one. I couldn’t take the bait holder out of a single one, they were all jammed, so I had to fill it while keeping the trap open. Twice now it’s caught a mouse and it’s escaped, one trap I found with blood on it and the mouse was gone, and a second one the mouse literally ran off still attached to the trap. Save your money here and invest instead in the proper quality traps from the likes of Woodies or B&Q. I’d love to return these but one is missing, two have peanut butter in them, and one has literal blood on it. Buyer beware.
